Accessing the Outdoors Responsibly During Covid-19

How To: Access the Outdoors Responsibly During Covid-19      *this blog post is sponsored by Zappos* I have been practicing social distancing for over 3 weeks now, and I finally felt comfortable heading outdoors to get some fresh air and try out my new hiking boots from Merrell.   Being in a quarantine feels like the perfect time to get outside to hit the mountains for a hike, except when everyone else is thinking the same thing.    Imagine, you are carrying COVID-19 but aren’t experiencing any symptoms.   You feel great, the sun is out, so you decide to go on a hike.   You stop at the last available gas station in a small mountain town to fill up on gas and get some snacks, and you expose the gas station employee as well as all the other customers that go into the gas station that day.   They bring the virus home with them, and then several people in this small town are sick but don’t have access to medical care l...

Female Health While Accessing The Outdoors

Image
Ladies, this ones for you. Getting my period before or during an outdoor activity is literally my worst nightmare, and it happened to me in August.  And I didn't take care of myself and I ended up with a friggin PAINFUL bladder infection. So the purpose of this blog is so you can learn from my mistakes.  We gon' talk about ways I try to keep clean, ways to avoid what I want through, my favorite undies, and tips for PACKING IN AND PACKING OUT.  YEP.  I do have a medical-ish background (i'm not a doctor or a nurse or anything) but for the purpose of this blog post, I will be referring to the female genitalia as every slang word I can think of, just for fun. Keep Your Coochie Clean On Trails Obviously, we want to keep clean to avoid smelly/sweaty vag, but what about infected urethra??? I have never struggled with this, so it wasn't really on my radar.  Heres what I do. - Butt wipes - instead of only bringing toilet paper, bring some butt wipes....

You don't need a fancy, expensive camera to take pretty good pictures. View of Aasgard Pass - taken with Iphone 7   Take a scroll through my instagram feed and most people are shocked to know that I take my pictures using only my iphone.  I don't consider myself a photographer at all, but I like to think i'm a decent, amateur iPhoneographer ;)  There are a couple things that I always keep in mind when taking pictures, including how I compose the shot, balance, lighting, colors, and alignment to make it visually appealing and make people go "Wow! You're a good photographer!" When in reality I just walk up inclines to really cool places and take pictures while I walk.   I'm convinced that half the reason people like my photos, is  because I go to REALLY beautiful pictures.  Its not me takin good pics, its Mother Nature bein real pretty.  But anyways. The Enchantments, Washington I'd consider myself an amateur photographer - ...

Trekking to Everest Base Camp

Image
Three months ago, I made it to the base camp of Mount Everest in Nepal.   It is taking me so long to blog about it, primarily because I don't know where to start.  I like to write, but organization when I write is a huge struggle, and the fact that there is so much to say and so hard to organize it is what has prevented me from writing this.  Liiiiiiiike, do ya'll wanna hear about my itinerary? My prep? Anecdotes? The culture? My feelings? Things you should know before doing this? I'm assuming that I will be writing multiple posts about this adventure of a lifetime, so I'll start with the general stuff that I've had the most questions about, lets see where this goes. How did I get to go to Nepal?????? How did this trip come to be? I didn't just wake up one day and was like "Ima take 3 weeks off work and go to Nepal in a couple months".  I remember I was at my old apartment cooking my boyfriend dinner, when I got a message on my Instagram...
